Macs: I swear by them!

3d_apple_logo_102.jpgWhat do I have in common with Siegfried and Roy? A good deal, actually, but one thing in particular is - we both use Macs for biz.  I originally purchased my MacBook 2.2ghz notebook last November to use it for A/V production, as Mac-based programs are eons ahead of PC-based programs. I have been pleasently surprised to find that even the basic programs on the new OS (Leopard) like Garageband and iMovie are quite excellent and efficient to use. With my biz I have purchased pro programs for Mac, but still use these great applications. Programs aside, Macs do not lag and are ideal for one in “the biz.” They are the industry standard and with the introduction of Intel-integrated units, are one of the most versatile computers on the market.   Some insight, Sammy

Sammy Cortino Unanimously Accepted Into London’s Magic Circle

(HICKORY, North CarolinaMarch 17, 2008) Magic’s Royal Duke Sammy Cortino’s performance ability has been examined by the Magic Circle’s 14 member Council. His membership of the world-famous society, based off of the Council’s examination, has been accepted unanimously.

The Magic Circle has such noted members as Siegfried and Roy, David Copperfield, Lance Burton, and Prince Charles. Founded in 1905 the organization holds over 70 public shows, workshops, lectures, and competitions designed to elevate the art of magic at its multi-million dollar headquarters in London. As there is an extensive examination and screening process, strictly magicians of a high caliber can join this 1,500 member society.

Sammy, 19, is honored to be considered so highly by the prestigious organization. He says, “It’s certainly yet another indication to me that this [magic] is what I’m supposed to be doing. Because of this experience, I know I will continue to excel into the realm of my fondest dreams.”

Magic more popular than ever…

 dsc00656.jpg

I’ve said this before many times in my podcast as well as this blog - but it’s worth repeating: magic is huge now! I cannot remember a time where you would see a new magic special (World Magic Awards) on TV and just a couple days later on the net see a banner with rabbits coming out of a hat. Magic is bigger than it’s ever been and that’s good for us as magicians. People recognize magic more and are touched with what the art has to offer.

Some food for thought, Sammy
