Magic…in the mountains! Sammy Cortino to headline at Blowing Rock performing arts center this fall!

(HICKORY, North Carolina — August 13, 2007) This fall, Hickory’s own professional illusionist Sammy Cortino returns to the big stage again! This time will be a step above Sammy’s well received performance at Lenoir’s Broyhill Civic Center last fall. Sammy will be present a full 90 minute evening show at the new Mariam and Robert Hayes Performing Arts Center in Blowing Rock. The center (which opened last September) is home to the acclaimed Blowing Rock Stage Company and caters to Blowing Rock in the way the Broyhill Civic Center has catered to the Hickory/Lenoir Metro area. In this November 17^th performance, Sammy will present a Vegas-style show entitled “Dimension Unknown with Magic’s Royal Duke Sammy Cortino.” The show will incorporate large-scale illusions, sleight of hand, special effects, set pieces, and assistants. The show innovatively incorporates a plot and story line that takes the audience on a journey to a world of magic and adds depth to the performance. Sammy says, “I’m continuing to live my dream of presenting shows in performing arts centers and this performance is yet another big step for me in this arena.” The 18 year old illusionist is currently in production for the show and will begin training his show staff of seven in October.
